Honorary Junior Golf Program

Nine years ago, the Members of the Country Club of Lincoln created a meaningful tribute to honor the legacy of Tom Ernst, an admired Member and one of Nebraska's most renowned high school athletes.  Tom was the embodiment of sportsmanship and camaraderie, and he epitomized the values that now serve as the foundation for selecting recipients of the Annual Honorary Junior Golf Membership.

The Tom Ernst Honorary Junior Golf Membership represents an esteemed honor, permitting access to the golf facilities to two of Lincoln's young golfers.  With the aim of fostering personal growth and providing access to one of the state's premier golf venues, this program has offered an enriching experience for high school golfers who then excelled both in collegiate play and professional instruction.

In 2024, one male and one female high school student will be selected and have the opportunity to use the golf facilities at the Country Club of Lincoln from April 1, 2024, to November 1, 2024.  If you have a passion for the game, a drive to improve, and aspire greatness in golf, we encourage you to read the guidelines for this exceptional program.  If you believe you meet the criteria, we invite you to complete the online application below.

    • Guidelines for the Tom Ernst Honorary Junior Golf Program

The Country Club of Lincoln will offer an Honorary Junior Golf Program opportunity to one male and one female high school student.  The Tom Ernst Honorary Junior Golf recipient will be awarded only golf privileges at the Country Club of Lincoln. Its purpose is to provide a golf venue for a promising young golfer, demonstrating a love and ability to play the game.  Therefore, the following guidelines are of significance:

Eligibility:  Applications will be accepted from youth entering into their freshman through senior years of high school concurrent to the golf season in which he/she would be a member.   For example, an eighth grader may apply for the membership as he/she would be entering high school during the start of the official golf season. Sons and daughters of current members are not eligible.  The TEHJG Program will run April 1–November 1 of each calendar year, and be awarded for one year only per recipient.

Golf:  Golfing opportunities are for the TEHJG recipient only. The recipient should feel comfortable playing on their own if need be, and using the course regularly.  Two complimentary guest passes are available for the recipient to use each month!   A parent/legal guardian/guest may be permitted to play with the Tom Ernst Honorary Junior Golfer following the guest policy and applicable rates (not to exceed four times per year for any individual).  Member Hosted Rates for all guest fees:  $100 daily rate, March through October; $75 daily rate, November-February; Juniors (18 years of age or under) may invite other Juniors (18 years of age or under) for a $20.00 guest fee.  You must check in before you practice or play.

Carts:  Carts fees are permitted.  The Tom Ernst Honorary Junior Golfer may walk and carry or use pull cart.

Practice:  Two practice facilities are available for the Tom Ernst Honorary Junior Golfer only:  (1) the Driving Range and (2) the Putting Green and Chipping area.

Playing Restrictions:  Monday - Friday – after 2:00 pm; Saturday - Sunday – after 12:00 pm.  The only exception would be if a Country Club of Lincoln Member invites the TEHJG recipient to play in the morning.  All playing times are at the discretion of PGA Staff.

Identification:  The TEHJG recipient will be provided a CCL golf bag tag to identify them during play at CCL.

Food:  Food and beverage service will be available.  A member number will be assigned for charging and tracking purposes, with the parent/legal guardian’s credit card attached for accounting.

The TEHJG recipient is expected to be familiar with rules of conduct while on the course.  Please remember to also be courteous with cell phone usage and stereo volume while on the practice range or course.  The TEHJG Program privileges will be in effect for the entire school year, including summer.
